1.1. How to join - Office

New Brokers or Established Non-REALTOR® Brokers

Your firm must first be registered with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) before you can apply for membership as the company's broker, if:

· You are the New principal broker (Broker of Record)

· You are New to the REALTOR® associations.

· Your firm is an established or a newly formed real estate brokerage and you are not currently a member.

It is recommended that you review the Responsibilities for the "Designated REALTOR®" before proceeding with the membership process so that you fully understand your responsibilities.


New Broker (non-member) REALTOR® Application Process

Please bring the following forms with you to your appointment at the local real estate association of your choice

1. Completed and signed member application.

2. A copy of the Broker's license.

3. A copy of the firm's DBPR license.

4. Completed and signed Participating Fee & Activation Agreement for My Florida Regional MLS.

5. Completed and signed Principal Broker or Certified Appraiser Request to Participate Form for My Florida Regional MLS.

6. Payment for applicable dues and fees.

1.2. How to join - Broker

New Brokers or Established Non-REALTOR® Brokers

1.3. Agent Join

Licensing Prerequisite

A basic prerequisite for membership is that you be licensed with a firm whose broker is a REALTOR® member. Before proceeding with the membership application, please verify that your license is showing as "current, active" with the proper firm by visiting the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation's (DBPR) website at http://www.myfloridalicense.com/.

The DBPR requires that licenses of agents, brokers and corporations be current and showing as active on their website prior to processing membership applications.

1.4. How to join - Assistant

MFRMLS Assistants (unlicensed)

There are 3 different types of Unlicensed Assistants unique to MFRMLS

· Personal Assistant

· Brokerage Office Staff Assistant

· Company Assistant

To become an MFRMLS Unlicensed Assistant, there is a $65.00 set-up fee required and a prorated annual access amount (payable to MFRMLS). The annual amount will be billed by MLS on September 30th.

a. Please submit a completed and signed Unlicensed Assistant/User Information Form (employer's and assistant's signatures required).

b. MFRMLS also requires Unlicensed Assistants to attend the "Introduction to MLS" Basic class and the "MLXchange Entering & Updating Listings (Listing Maintenance)" class within 60 days of MLS access.

c. Submit a legible copy of the assistant's driver's license orgovernment-issued I.D.

d. Submit appropriate payment for MFRMLS fees.

Due to the specific guidelines and procedures associated with this membership type, we recommend contacting one of the local share holder associations for more detailed information.

 

1.5. How To Join Thompson Broker/ Sales Person

Thompson Membership

 

*Refers to early 1990’s federal circuit court ruling that uncoupled MLS participation from Realtor membership in   Alabama, Georgia and Florida. 

Applicant must be a licensed Real Estate Broker in the state of Florida with no affiliations to a Realtor® Association even if out-of-state.

 

To Qualify:

 

  1. Applicant must be a licensed Real Estate Broker in the State of Florida.
  2. Applicant cannot have any REALTOR® Association affiliations, even if it is out-of-state.
  3. Any agents with a current active license under the broker making the application,are also required to join and pay full membership fees.

*Must have all agents and broker applications before being set up.

*Appraisers do not qualify for this membership.

System Access:

This category provides full access to the MLS *(Full access is given to all members once education requirements are met and Broker Authorization form is on file).  However, it does not provide access to any programs and services offered by respective Realtor® Association shareholders to their members.  Specifically, Thompson brokerages are precluded from:

  • Using the term Realtor® and Realtor® logo.
  • Participating in association owned and operated key box systems.
  • Using association services such as standard forms and contracts.
  • Having their listings posted on Realtor.com.

1. Thompson Broker (Non Member) Request to Participate form.

2. Thompson Broker/Salesperson Membership form. 

3.  Agreement form.

4.  Payment Authorization.

THOMPSON SALESPERSON

To Qualify:

 

Applicant must hold a current/active real estate license under a broker with no Realtor® affiliations. 

 

Paper work to be completed:

 

1.  Thompson Broker/Salesperson Membership form

2.  Agreement

3.  Payment Authorization

**MLS fees per Licensee:  Prorated MLS fees plus one time set up fees of $215.00 for the broker and $90.00 per agent.
